Reflective Oblivion

By Redemption

What More Is There?
I wonder.
For, when one sees the sun set countless times
He begins to question the point of it all

The Straight path all, but the godly walk
From birth to death
A wickedly monotonous trek
With no detours
Just the simple shortcuts
Which, take you to the “end” faster

So many shortcuts…
Suicide, Illness, Humanity…
Woe to it all, I say

Now I ask…
What comfort is there?
When you realize that this road has an end
A destination where lies your (eternal) home

Comfort, some say can be found
Perhaps In the various religions of the world
Salvation, they say
Not only for the body, but of the soul as well

To them I say, fie
No man should waste an already short existence
Simply imagining, and truly not living
Eternally for some fools with nursery rhymes and their ways
Dedicating moments one could use on themselves
And naught for some fabled being

Fie, I say

For then I think
What does even that reasoning matter?
When time spent on thyself
Perhaps for ambitions
Perhaps for glory, or to even become legend
Comes to an end at some point or ‘nother
Given time, everlasting as it is
Decides to grasp it all and turn all men and legends of such
To eventual dust
Then proceeds to plant ruination where that very dust settled
Leaving no trace, blasting the very planet into the oblivion of time
End…I say.

Woe, it is
To the infinites of these questions
To the possibilities innumerable
What more is there?
When all I see ahead is nothingness
Oblivion, at the end of not only one mans path
But of that mans entire civilization

Thus I am,
Left only in the dark with one conclusion
Everything dies…
