Dead Roses

By Midnight Shadow

Does he really love me?
Or is this how it feels...
To be a wilting rose petal,
Falling,
Discarded...
So surreal?
What was once so vibrant,
Is now dead and gray.
I curl up in the corner,
Head hung in dismay.
Disappointment surrounds me,
Like the shadow I should know.
My tears shine and glisten,
Illuminated by a candle's glow.
One more tear falls,
Like a petal adrift in the wind
Then I start to wonder,
Is this punishment for all my sins?
Feeling at last pushed aside,
I can go back to feeling numb.
Worthless like a dead petal,
Is that what I've become?
I sigh and walk across the room,
A thoughtful look upon my face.
I reach for the dead rose,
Hanging limply from a vase.

Excellent. I can definately relate, as of late, to the feeling this conveys so well.

I wouldn't worry about it. Go to wal*mart buy some new flowers for the vase. :D On a more serious note, that was a very nice write. So many questions left unanswered. =\
