Love vs. Time
By Bellezza
The pane of the window was smeared and smudged in almost every corner.
From its outside, the rain trickled downwards, playing games of chase to
make its trails as it fell. Restless, she sat staring outward at the same
spot from which he had left long ago. Still she waited with hopes of his
sudden return. Those same hopes were what always mislead her, thinking
of what would never come. Maybe he would turn around…to say goodbye once
more.
It would be months before she ever saw that boy again, but still she waited.
To her, time was not the problem, only an obstacle that she would overcome.
Feeling her heart squeezed from the inside out, she finally let her barriers
down. The same drops that fell before the window on the outside, now formed
on its inside. Each day her agony ate away at her, and each day this agony
was her only consolation. Her heart refused to settle with complacency,
and she would not be arrogant enough to let it. She would wait until she
could touch his face again, pressing his skin between her fingertips. It
was only a matter of time…
