Faust's Lament

By wandering druid

Can I be content with these words?
Lakcing in power, no reaction stirred
Faced with a dilemma
Of pain all intwined
Heartache or the breaking of my mind

A path split in three
By a goddess's song
Sweet and serene
Stirring a heart lain dormant so long
Softly I whisper
"To what end shall I try?"
Three ways to travel
Three ways to die

Shall I continue
With inspiration fading
Or sell my heart
To find greater pain
Or shall I obey my heart
And these feelings pervading
Give my soul to that goddess
And know I'll be hurt again

I cannot go on
Without any fire
No passion no heat
No way to inspire
A faustian deal
That I know shall seal
The destiney that awaits me
Whether imagined or real
My soul to a goddess
My heart to death
Either path to destruction
At the whim of a breath
