The Shining Paladin

By NikesRain

and he wove for me a flower from starlight and daydreams
with the sky in his eyes and thunder in his heart
so quietly as he pulled in the rays of the dawn
weaving words while coaxing petals to bloom

and he smiled with ease yet i saw the shadows
reconizing the shifts in grey across his face
we wished on stars and touched on memories
casting them with rose tiped fingers
into a night that swept them up like silverdust

and he hides nothing of the man he is
harsh in his own assessment of his virtues
guarding trust like a kings treasure
challenging one and all to breach the fortress

and i sighed in the soul of my heart
that such a spirit was delt such harsh seasons
cursing the tempests that tore through his past
still he stands resolute battlescarred and daring

and he wove for me beauty and perfection
captured in a flower of starlight and daydreams
he smiled and spoke of moonlight and darkness
while i wished for him one who would be worthy
to win his laughter and caress his guarded heart

This is the best thing I have read on this site in a month. The best line: that such a spirit was delt such harsh seasons
