skull and cross-bones

By Jonas

any time he said
either you or i
and every time he'd push
the flies'd multiply

leave me alone he said
cause he knew his words
would sound like bad
goth poetry
so he'd read alone in subway stations
and his ears would echo with the sound

of trains
that carry me away
carry with the sound
and if it's day or night
i don't know
underground

curses to the world he said
and he meant it too
this one for me
and that one for you

he dressed in silence
every morning and pulled
the shade to the window
to the world
coming down

like rain
that washes me away
rushes with the sound
wont come up for air
wont ever be
found

any time he said
either you or i
and for every inch he'd give
he'd take the world wide

and he thought
that if god knew
what he was thinking
he'd never get to heaven

he'd never get to heaven
