Yesterday

By Metal Lullaby

It was only yesterday that the sky was sunny
And the wind was breezy, but tonight
Upon the deepest of plight
There is a cold worse than the night
That settles in the heart and delves into the mind
It is a thought of love intertwined with anger
A thought that creates the soul into a fiery dance
And yet into a mellow lake
It begins with a scowl
And ends with a smile

It was only yesterday that her face was smiling
And the sky was sunny
And the wind was breezy, but tonight
There is not a smile but a look of solitude

It was only yesterday that there was a kiss
And the wind was breezy
And the sky was sunny, but tonight
There is not a kiss, but a dream of a kiss
A dream of a love
A dream of a dream

It often does seem that in the shadows of sleep
That
The wind is breezy and the sky is sunny
But there is no one smiling
And there is no one kissing

It was only yesterday that there was a laugh
With a sunny day, and breezy wind
But now there is only a cry
With a dark night, and a calm breeze

It was only yesterday that arms were in arms
With a breezy wind, and sunny day
But tonight there are no arms

It was only tonight that the dread fell in

That yesterday is gone.
