God is Blind (...and the Devil's a Blonde)

By Stormcomin

I look and I see so much famine and greed
That it’s hard to keep tears confined
And I wonder, with shame, the strength of our creed
And conclude, that God must be blind

Then I look at heroes that rescue our hearts
And to thoughts, I’m bound to respond
That just maybe, it is, so my soul imparts
In resolve, the Devil is blonde

Then once again death greets my skeptical eye
And I frown at faith in degree
And I question, inside, ineluctably “Why?”
And retort, with “God cannot see!”

But then as I witness a lover’s embrace
And I dream, a future to come
When it’s me, in love, and pain I erase
To reveal, the Devil’s just dumb

But honestly true, maybe both can apply
If you look at things and despond
If you question, like me, with thoughts so awry
To assume, the devil is blonde...?
You’ve confused yourself in mind
To reckon, that God must be blind

I love your command of metre. The third stanza in particular is just excellent. Great concept, this, and so very well written. :)

if 'God' is blind and the 'Devil' is dumb[blonde] and we can see then it must be our responsibility, given the fact that we hold the vision.....on a funnier note....of course the devil is blonde what did you expect a goth satan...pleease;)elisa
