Weeping Willow

By darkness_descends

I am nothing and, I am no one
I hate my life, I've lost all hope.
I can't undo what I have done.
I tied the noose and now I dangle from the end of a rope.

Hanging in the branches of a weeping willow
Swaying gently like a windchime in the moonlit eve.
Choking, gasping, slowly dying where no one will know.
Hidden deep within the dense foliage of the sullen tree.

I feel my life being slowly snuffed out,
But as I look to the moon I feel calm and almost free.
I don't struggle or fight, not even a shout.
Each passing second brings me closer to death and all of my dreams.

My mind is clouded by the kiss of death,
My heart is thrilled with the finality of the other side,
My body is drawing it's last breath,
And for the last time I close my eyes.

At long last I am dead
With the wind gently rustling the leaves,
The serene glow of the moon above my head,
And me peacefully hanging from this weeping willow tree.

The last line lingers in the mind...Images beckoning forth to that peaceful end, symbolic of all life, a struggle, surrender and death...
