Miasmic Truths

By darkness_descends

In society you are judged
By the power that you hold,
Nevermind for the people who begrudge you
Or the infinite lies that you have told.

You've climbed and lied all the way to the top,
So now at the snowy peak of the mountain you stand.
But on the way up, did you ever once stop
To consider or acknowledge the hard working, honest man,
That you buried in the snow?

Have you no remorse for the lives that you crush?
But that's something you probably haven't pondered.
And what about the hopes and dreams that, like a cigarette, you snuff?
Or can you not even spare the time to ponder,
Something so trivial as that?

How long can you try to run,
Before you can see,
All the wide-spread damage you have done,
By speaking your falsities?

Being confronted with your miasmic truths
Causes the avalanche,
That will be the death of you,
As you fall flat on your ass.

Love this hard-hitting piece. I think Miasma is one tremendously under used word. Great write!
