She Built Her Ship Up North

By Fourknaz

She struck me as a child
Draped in paisley
Grinning with the dawn
Giggling with the dusk
With her cross to bear
And her Buster Browns
Dancing around the derelicts
Kissing the windows
Leaving her lip prints for those give a try
Like Cinderella's glass slipper

Her mane whispered to me in a dream
A strawberry swirl ebbing with the wind
Emeralds burned from her eyes
Arms outstretched
Beckoning all to bounce into her arms
She juggles you know?
Juggles the minds of the meek
And the hearts of the weak

Trip to heave and ho!
Scampering amongst the daisies
It's a dream world she resides in
A Dorothy lost in Oz kind of world
It's the reality that is her fantasy world
For to be normal is boring
Hiding with the raisins
Dancing with the brooms
Her Fantasia is now

I followed her for a bit
Nibbling on a piece of earth
I found on the road
Near the thousand dreams left there by others
I think her book is missing some pages
Chapters are all out of sequence
Look at this run on sentence!
She skipped along with herself trailing behind
This road was getting too steep for my taste

I waited for her to finish
She insisted on stopping
To bathe in the rain
It stung my eyes as it poured
She reveled in it
Circle danced to her own tribal beat
"I built my ship up North my dear"
She grins too much
Her pigtails are silly.....just so silly

This shop is so musty
The books are unreadable
Cryptic etchings and foreign symbols
I might sneeze
And blow it all to hell
She's finger-painting in the dusty floor
A happy face with a big dot on the forehead
Cute my dear.....real cute

I'm in a bind now
Literally
People need to sleep at times
To refresh the mind and the bones
She is restless
This chair is hurting my back
And you made the rope too tight
Put that damn cat-o-nine-tails away
This mask is suffocating me

She tastes like sugar
My lips pressed against hers
She continues to read her Poe
Scratching her temple as she looks down
"You're so boring"
Stiletto heels and a candy cane
She slurps
I suck
This is going nowhere

This well trained eye can see a counterfeit a mile away
I don't look good in mauve
Peach is meant to be eaten not worn
She sticks her tounge out at my garb
Whether to taste it's fruity shades
Or to mock me as I'm esconsced in rainbow's vomit

So you leave me on the road
Galloping away on your imaginary steed
"Thanks kiddo, see you on the flip side"
I now scratch my temple
Back to my world of wondrous nothingness
Thanks for the time
Until again, I shall be waiting
