Starless

By Liath

Struggling to hold on with all his might
He won't let her go without a fight
He loved her dearly - more than life
There are atleast two more broken souls on this starless night.

Words and regrets sadly said
He won't believe their love is dead
Must hold on to his last lingering hope
As she lies crying upon her bed.

Hearts broken don't mend fast
Sadder he gets, his head half-mast
She remembers their nights together
Wondering how long she can last

Months it's been since the serpent bites
She might deny him by all rights
but she could him embrace him again
And see no more starless nights.

Beautifully tragic, and really quite capivating. I love the rhyming too, it really worked. and those last two lines were killer. Awesome work.
