Feathers Of Smoke

By Dommi

Once there was a woman
Who would cry to sleep at night
Who would try to stitch her world together
to make the wrong things right

But her thread could not hold it
Her skin began to tear
Her inner-strength completely drained
She was numb and only stared

A bird perched on her shoulder
And whispered what was key
'When the world has made you weary,
You can always come to me.'

What began as her salvation
With wings as black as night
Turned out to be a tale of love
that freed her from inside

The tender voice danced in her ear
This must be all a dream
For where's the pain in loving
That always weighs on me?

The wings that now embraced her
Possessed a warmth she had not felt
The raven had accepted her
And repaired her broken self

For many years she had been lost
But now had a precious haven
Many of her nights are spent
Listening for her one and only Raven...
