as you sleep

By Kfritz

I wanted to say something
Before you fall asleep
But when the courage
Reached my throat
And I turned over
To look at you
I saw eye lashes pressed together
And I heard the breath
Flowing between your lips
Maybe it’s best to say this
When your ears can not
Hear my voice
But my ears need to hear
Myself whisper
My head is overwhelmed
By this thought
Loving you terrifies me

Yeah, when you open up to really love someone, you are putting your heart into their care. They will have the power to nourish or to devastate your spirit. That isn't something to be taken lightly. Great meaning here, Veingo. I remember the very instant when I made that choice years ago as if it were only moments. Scholar
