Asylum

By Liath

Asylum

When I go crazy
And I feel I'm losing control
I retreat into my depths
Throw up walls
Defense
Barricades
Not, though
To keep things out
But
To keep me in
Contained

I seek asylum
I fear imprisonment (by narrow-minded social norms)
I need shelter
I don't want help
I get scared and mute
I don't trust people
I don't like them
I just need a place to be alone
To think
To regain control
But soon again I've lost it
It's wrenching
Pulling
Dragging
Me
Into madness
And sorrow
So once again I revert to the good-old duck & cover
Back to my asylum
My mind
My conscience
My Asylum

(Another of my old pieces..about 5 months old)

I'm honored worm, to have recieved this kind of praise from you. I've read your material, and I think that you could possibly be a modern day prophet. Thank you much. ~Liath

this has the ring of truth to it... not like some things I've read that are merely composed... you took me through your mind... and I liked it!
