Who Am I

By LoneWolf

Who am I to be treated
Like a queen in a beehive
Where everyone bows to my
So righteous intellect
And who am I to
Be walked on and over
By those who would call me
Their friend
I'm not of obedience
I'm not the ruling type
I wonder if I'm
Anything at all

And you
Who are you to be wanted
When your wagon has pulled away
The sand pail is still
In your toy box
You know that you're realized
You're still the light in my eyes
And yet you don't seem to care

We are not seen to be
The things that we
Always had hoped for
When you trash me
I'll trash you back
We've always been
Equals in that
Because you never could best me
And neither could I best you

But when all is said and done
I still get left in your dust
You say forget me, silly girl
You're never gonna make it
Anyway

I know that
I don't seem like more than
A rock to you
There's nothing in my head
To convince you that I'm not
But when you throw me
To skip across a sacred lake
Remember that I'll be back
To find you
And get back what was
Truly mine all along
