Alas

By Mistress Morbid

Alas I've come to
this decision in life
Where I have stepped back
and watched all the strife

Wondering how it got
so cold around here
How everyone has been
scared away by fear

Masses of bloodied hands
smeared all around
Putrid smelling corpses
lay on the ground

Vacant smiles and
twisted laughter fills the air
But not a living soul
around that could bear

A vast fog has
blanketed our nations
Has sent us all to
our demonic stations

To become mechanical
slaves to our own demise
Stepping into death's lair and
staring straight in her eyes

Watch as the walls
start to crumble down
Tears become heavy
leaving our vitality bound

But alas I have
come to understand
This is our nature
of a tarnished land

Well this is thought provoking. At first my mind flashed on children playing amid a deserted battleground, then it slammed forward to harder, even less pleasant pictures. ~ mw

Wow, very disturbing and so thick with imagery. And so true, the world is destroying it's self with growing violence, and all for nothing. Amazing write Morb, really amazing. ~L

Bloodshed for nothing. We live to kill, not to die, which is what is wrong with life. Wonderful piece Miss Morbid, maybe we should buy an island and start our own life, and then nuke the world. :-D

For nothing? Perhaps that is the true underlying nature of man. ~ mw
