Softer Stones

Where the Trees hang only by their necks,
And the wailing cries of ravens have fun,
Waiting beside the bedposts,
Sleeps alone the children of darker sects.

When rising feet strike sinew and bone,
And even angels steal broken dreams,
Waiting are the redder eyes,
Softer whips are shed for stones…
