Of Eyes, Knives, and Life

By Liath

Of Eyes, Knives, And Life

Say hello to your shadow
And wait for the echo
From the darkness below
I mourn for the strength to let go

The eyes of the knife
Are the eyes in your head
The flaw of my life
Lays beside me in bed

Walking in this desolace
I'm cold and alone
My eyes are restless
And the silence chills to the bone

You said you'd be here
You said you'd never let me go
I know that I shifted gears
But I was sorry and I let it show

Does the moon taunt you
The knives, do they cut you
I'm used to the pale pontificating gleam
Of the moon reflected in cold steel

Like a prophet's word
The serrations end sentences sharp
Never caring for the meaning of the thought
You cut the strings of my harp

My heart beats for something more
Feet walking on to find a place to rest
Eyes searching for some distant shore
My face is seeking the warm soothing of love's breast

Blood in the puddle, coagulating
It all comes together in the end
And sticks despite composure
I'm always wary of the collision in the bend
