A Voice In The Darkness

By darkness_descends

Lost in my darkness
Can't seem to find a light
Or trust what I see before my eyes
So I have to learn to go by what I hear
To navigate through darkness, pain, and tears
With nothing but a sounds so far away
My only solace
My only comfort in this lonliness
Is a whisper on the wind
From some place I can't find
When tears sting my eyes
Or pain burns my heart
Threatening to break it apart
A voice comes from nowhere
Or maybe in my head
To dry my tears
Put out the flames
And heal my heart
When depression takes hold
And pulls the ground from under me
Leaving me to fall to the end
A presence fills the air
And that voice is back again
Catching me before I hit rock bottom
Lifting me back to solid ground
When I am all but stable
About to fall down
And I give up hope for my life
Reaching for my sheath
To pull out my knife
A voice crawls out of the shadows
To steady my steps
Keep me on the right path
To take hold of my hand
Keeping it from the death it reaches for
Caring for my life
When I don't care at all
Every time I am lost and alone
A voice breaks the darkness
Always when I'm in need of someone
Because sometimes a voice is all you have.
