Winds of Sadness

The winds of sadness
Whip me helplessly around
Howling in my ears
Drowning out my own sobs
Throwing the sands of time in my eyes
Stinging and burning
Ironically though absorbing the tears
That would fall from the crystal pools of my eyes
As I trek across the desserst of depression
In the lonliness of life
Chasing the mirage of happiness
Searching for some meaning in being
Forever continuing to journey through life
Just when I think I see an oasis ahead
The open arms of my lost comfort
I reach out for their solace
And fall into nothingness once agaiin
As the heated delusions
Of isolated insanity
Slowly tear me apart
Pulling at my heart
So I turn to my dreams
For some escape from this torture
The only place lonliness can't follow
Where nightmares are more pleasant than reality
How much pain can my heart take
Until one day I forget to wake.
