Sleeping Beauty

By Mistress Morbid

You follow whispers
As they float in the air
Like enchanted oracles
Leading you through the night

Following along a stream
Thats seems to peer at you
In curiousity
The sound so serene and gentle

Enticing you to lean down
And take a sip

Feeling slightly thirsty
You kneel down and scoop
Some water in your hands
Like a coveted wine

Getting a new sense of energy
You continue to follow the trails
The whispers have left

As the stream turns in the
Opposite direction
An unimaginable glow
Seeps through the leaves of the trees
Giving off a wealth of warmth
Thats seems to have some
Force of hypnosis over you

Feeling drawn to it
You start to saunter towards it

It seems to move farther away
As you think you are getting closer
Wondering why you havnt reached it yet

You see that you shoe is untied
You kneel for a second to fix that
But as you arise you notice
That the glow has disappeared
Vanished without a trace

Suddenly feeling overwhelmed
With trepidation
You start running towards
The last place you saw the glow

In an instant you
Emerge from the trees
Nearly out of breath
You stumble over someone
But as you look closer
You see that is isnt just someone
But a woman

She looks like a princess
From a secret palace
Far far away
Not from this earth

She has been the one
Giving the off the glow
That seemed to have drawn you in

But something was wrong
She was not moving and
Her glow only seemed to pulsate weakly

In a sudden rush of dread
You drop to the ground
And lift her up
So that you may check
For any sign of life

In a desperate search for
An answer
A thought floods your mind

Remembering sleeping beauty
From your childhood
You lean in towards her
And kiss her lightly on the lips

Feeling that warmth consume you
Like a blazing pheonix

Her eyes flutter open
And she smiles
Revealing a full mouth
Of blinding white teeth

Her arms slide around
Your torso tightly

And she whispers

Run away with me

This was fun. At least from my point of view, your vocabulary is superb, your flow delicate and the tapestry well spun indeed. I'd kill someone if they woke me from eternal slumber...

This was very whimsical and beautiful.. I have a suggestion though... Around the middle of the poem, you started off two verses with the word Suddenly. Try not to use the same word repeatedly. Other than that small thing, I thought this was great :) :::OL
