The morality you stole from me...

By Methos

Taken love from my heart
stolen my offerings of truth
and returned lies of hellish nature
bringing sleepless nights,
and forgotten dreams
to my simple life....

I wanted to believe
as I watched my world crumble
in my hands...
I wanted to understand
as I saw you with him hand in hand
though you pledged to me...

I haven't loved in years
and now the blackness within
grows darker and the peices of
my heart drift further
and further apart...

I needed to know
why you gave him all that
was mine...
I needed to leave
though i stayed and tried
to forget...

I wanted to believe
that you were everything
though you were not...
I wanted to understand
why your love was so cheap
like a whore...

I wanted to believe
as I fell to my knees
a broken man
with nothing left
but shattered dreams
and a hatred I bear...

Commitment it seems
is no longer what
it once was
merely a dream
I've yet to awaken from...

I come back to this often... A year ago my marriage ended in similar verse. I can't tell you how often I read this to feel the kindred words from another soul barely contained, crying out over the agony of love lost. Thank you, thank you for such a timeleas piece... Just as great 13 odd years later...

"i wanted to believe, as i fell to my knees".... this is vicious with truth, i love it but it almost hurts to love it for the underlying sameness i've experienced- all within it that i understand... and everything i dont... sue

love hurts, love is the cause of my greatest hate, but like nell said, love would be meaningless without hurt.~~~Grave

nicely written, someones once asked me whats the point of trying again to look for love because it hurts so much, and the answer is that without the hurt the happiness would mean nothing
