Loving a Ghost

By nightshade

I'm close enough to touch you
Yet forever out of reach
Absolutely all I ever wanted
Yet never quite what I need
You're standing there with arms wide open
While silently whispering words of hate
I'm trying so hard to touch you
Yet I seem to drift farther and farther away
You step forward it seems to touch me
And suddenly you slip away
Anger boils up inside my soul
While my thought and emotions are betrayed
You stood behind me and lifted me up
Just so you could watch me fall onto the spikes of pain beneath
