Treasure Lost

By nightshade

This is the story of a life that needs be told.
And of a man and his treasures more precious than gold.
His treasures were love faith and trust
And how investing them in the world each he lost
He put his trust in his friends
who showed him all of the new age trends
they took him here and dragged him there’
thus showing him the worlds not fair
they stripped him of his trust bit by bit
until his mind was no longer healthy or fit
He put his faith in worldly possessions
he walked the path of prosperity and progression
the path he took was wide and long
the path he took was oh so wrong
it carried him across mountain and vale
yet he did not know he was walking towards a self made hell
he was robbed of his talents and possessions one by one
yet he did not know when even when in his face it was done
he was sent round the robbers each in turn
their names were lust envy greed and pride and his righteous goals they burned
they used him until his body was spent
and then onto other victims they went
he put his love in what he thought was his soul mate
and she was the one to seal his fate
he showed her his love in many a fashion
yet he did not know her one burning passion
that passion was his last best friend
the only one upon whom he thought he could still depend
they frolicked and played while his back was turned
and from this his hate was spurned
so now he lays in the pit of depression
held there by his own hatred and others oppression
there he lays hurt and alone
left to the scavengers and cold to the bone
this is the story of a life that needed to be told
and of a man who lost his treasures more precious than gold.

You've lead such a sorrow filled life. I can see your story in these words. Excellent.
