Demise

By Jaded Jezzabelle

My defense is your demise
the only salvation from your levitcus eyes
what you see as peril and shame
I see simply as a game
to increase the chance of my intentions
which leads of course to your dissention
I would be fine but for your eyes
they greet my face in dreams
through hallways of dust and disuse
my mind comes apart at the seems
because you only smiled when I cried
only came along for the ride
used my innocence like so much heat
theres really someone you ought to meet
I would be healed but for your sin
painted colors upon my chest
rusty promises leave a jaded mark
you said it was for the best
best for who
you never cared you always lied
maybe this all means something
scribbling wordless thoughts on worthless paper
maybe its one last grasp
at the sanity I thought you were
but my voice only sings on paper
and
you won't stop to listen
maybe your not worth my time
or
my rhymes
or
maybe your darkened fingers of chance
scratched too close to the glass
and
left a mark
