Forget Me Not

By purr_verse

The twilit forest shifts and whispers
Shapes and forms dark and alive
pernicious, sweet
the pulsing beat
calls to denizens lost in time.

Daphne's daughter buried here,
with her love once laughed and played
but she was scorned
her soul transformed
deep swallowed and decayed.

Now moonlight dances, weaves its magic,
stirring her to rise again
From dirt begot
Forget Me Not,
rigor-held, must end the pain.

Her hands in rictus desperation
Up from the earth where she lies within
embedded, trapped
two fingers snapped
and now the change begins...

come come my pretty, mouth of dirt
touch me like you once did when
i was your maid of flesh and blood
before the forest's curse was sent

She drags herself into the air
Atrocity of beauty true
The night sky sighs
Dimensions die
and she has come to lie with you...

how could you leave me, lover dear
in these woods to die alone
engulfed by moss and worms i've waited
waited in this tomb below
come come my pretty, don't be frightened
i rise again with fat full moon
my bones are old, my eyes are blinded
but i'll hold you near me soon

Rotted skin and clothing drapes her
Fetid shroud of lifeless need
poisoned, deathless
so relentless
on this night that she is freed...

soon the morning comes, my love
and i will sink back into hell
but darling see my love is constant
and i want you here as well
come come my pretty, you must miss me
don't you know that i forgive
though insects play around my lips now
my devotion to you lives

Through the darkness she moves onwards
Sightless, grasping
Helplessly
Ever searching for her lost heart
She will do so
endlessly...

Her shambling figure in the forest
Stumbles through the silent trees
tortured, twisted
chained, addicted
Screaming mute for sanctuary.

As daybreak filters through the leaves
She takes her final shaky steps
collapses down
her love unfound
Interred once more with arms outstretched.

The forest wakens from its silence
now she again to earth belongs
the cycle done
(till next moon comes)
The thick-winged insects rasp her song...

come come my pretty, come come my pretty
come come my pretty, come come to me
come my pretty, come come my pretty
come come my pretty, come come to me...

oooooooh gave me shivers. How can I not have commented on this before? Obviously the sitte knows because I came here from the dice icon! Marvellous rhyme, so clever. I felt like I was reading Tennyson...

I totally love this shit -- and believe me, very few get these types of adulation from me. With lines like "As daybreak filters through the leaves" how could this not be a winner? -pxc
