Heredity

By Dancing_Monkey

Search the shininest star,
Unknowing innocent eyes,
If you wish of one to guide,
You must travel life;

Wisemen saw the path,
Nature tells you of lust,
Find the strength,
Bearer of trust,
Rock the cradle,
Blend your tears,
A honest start
To share your heart.

This was good, I liked when you split it up into two pieces with different rythms. First part was very striking. ~Storm

I've always been conflicted about the dichotomy of experience and knowledge. On the one hand, it's stupid to go and do something after someone tells you they've done it and it didn't work out well...

...but on the other, you might have a different experience than they. For the most part, though, I think the problem is that most people just don't listen well.

There's one way to describe your work, and that is meaningful. Concise and meaningful. Well done.

To me, this poem is about not having anything handed to you. You can inherit alot of things, but the one thing you can't is the experience that living life brings. Nice poem I enjoyed it.

  • A former member wrote: It's hard to open up after you've been pushed down so many times. But this is true...you must first experience to learn. It's just the getting over the fear of experiencing things that's the hard part...

  • A former member wrote: I like the flow of this one. Seems like it started off calmly and then in the second stanza picked up pace until the last line and ended abruptly.

  • A former member wrote: As for the message my mind received from this- I'm seeing that in order to gain insight and knowledge you have to live, bleed, love, cry, hate, smile. Very nicely done Peter. ~Urban Shipwreck~
