Now and Then Love

By RaheemaFKM

There is inconsistency in your eyes; sometimes…if I’m lucky, I can see love
Other times…if I’m unfortunate, I can see nothing

This discrepancy frightens me, and I am wary of your gaze; it pains me to look up and find you so empty

When I see the love you profess shining clear, I feel warm and at ease, and all is right with you near

When your stare becomes vacant, I feel left alone, and I wonder if it matters…should I keep holding on

You don’t know what you do to my faith when you’re cold; you don’t know how I hate, and this game has grown old

You’re playing me out and tormenting my soul; your now and then love is taking its toll
