Poetic Inclinations

By RaheemaFKM

You wrap the pen with greedy fingers and milk it dry with skilled techniques

You open your mouth and taste the words as they drip and trickle onto the page

Now is the time—you lay it on thick; layer upon layer you stack up your heart

A sweet, bitter replica drenched in your blood, glazed with your sweat, sprinkled with tears

What a creation you’ve formed; a decadent masterpiece

Your miseries and your sorrows, you’ve fused into ecstasy

As night dissipates, and day breaks the sky

You pick another pen—and again drain it dry
