Broken Butterfly

By RaheemaFKM

You lack definition, a meaning to exist, a reason to persist and reject traditional life
You rebel without a cause, without a something to protect
You believe in just yourself, and have faith in nothing else

You lack a dream, an escape, a refuge from the dark
A sanctuary from the cold, somewhere to thaw your heart

No tenderness do you possess, your disposition is rigid, hard
All passion is lost to you, and no fire will heat your blood

You lack humanity, the capacity to hurt and feel, the ability to know what’s real, what can be held within your hands

Your ignorance translates to apathy; it binds you like a curse
What burdens you is the depth you’ve ascribed to your despair

You have only your conviction, and it restricts you from yourself
From the vision locked beneath the marble surface of your shell

You’ve erected a façade to protect your fracturing heart

If all you lack is what you seek, then from your cocoon you must depart
