Suicide Pact

By Quietus

Sinking in a peaceful pool, looking up at A Cotton Candy Sky,
The Chlorine fills my breathless lungs as I slowly start to die.
I begin Counting Sheep as I wait patiently for death,
I Come Clean in my mind as I hinder my every breath.

I Can Feel It Calling now, as I slowly begin to fade.
To Breathe You In once more, there’s nothing I wouldn’t trade.
Broken, you chose to leave me and Hurt, you went away
Though years of Convalescence, your decision I couldn’t sway.

The Ugly Pattern reared its head and this time you gave in,
It sang to you Like A Symphony of Crickets or a sweet, soft Violin.
I tried my best to stay here, but my Home Is wherever you are,
I’ve always said that You Can Count On Me, and I’ll follow you near and far.

I wonder if you are Heaven Sent, and I wonder if I am, too.
For a chance to see your Autumn eyes again, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do.
As the Chemical takes over now, I’m hoping that it’s swift.
The White Curtains of my eyelids close, and I finally begin to drift.

Another contest entry, this time for 10 Forty Three's Their Titles, Your Tributes contest. I was thrilled when I saw this one because it is, yet again, a brilliant idea. I chose my favorite band, Trophy Eyes, because they have great song titles. My favorite song of theirs (and in general) is Chlorine, and that's where I drew inspiration for this. I also titled this poem after one of their songs. Hopefully, I did this right, but I had a lot of fun with it either way.

I must admit, I had never heard of Trophy Eyes until I read this but let's just say that they have a new fan now. Just like everyone else, I can tell you really had fun with this and I appreciate that. This poem felt very passionate and the way you expanded upon the song titles paints a vivid picture and really speaks to me. Well done and thank you! - 10
