Elegy

By Smiles

She only speaks in epitaphs
Subliminal funeral messages
No praise in the eulogy for me

I am the casket
Ornate adornments
Sprawl across my flesh
Blood red silken lining
Fills my insides
Comfort for the living
Meaningless to the dead
I am the casket

She is melancholy
Clouding this room
Lingering in the air
Hanging over hanging heads
Sinking deep into their minds
She grips heavy hearts
This is her home
She is melancholy

We go hand in hand
If I am the dirt
She is the worm
Together forever
If she is death
I am decay
Beautiful and tragic
We go hand in hand

A fine couple. I agree with IamZero, that this is a beautiful, bittersweet piece. Something about the second paragraph reminds me of how we all house a skeleton inside our velvet lining. Thank you for sharing.

I like trying to find a good contrast between the two. Beautifully morbid, I guess. Thank you for reading Renegade.
