Emotional Cleanse

By I IS ME

Are you ready to be called mine
Are you ready to lower the defenses around your heart and mind
You claim you're looking for love and you only need a sign
But the world is steady moving leaving us behind

I'm caught up in your looking for an omen
Praying to idols for a new life to begin
To ward off evil and please help you forget past men
But you've gotta do more than pray to erase your sins

You have to start purging mind and heart
Truly forgiving yourself is just a start
Please realize that mistakes are easily made
And they're even easier with the chance to get laid

But this doesn't make you a bad person
And you shouldn't base the second on the first one
There's to much love still left in this world
To much sunshine to be share in this world

Living in a past with pain is no way to live
In order to hold onto your past, there's things you must give
Love of self, love of someone else, and a future that is clear
And what about your sanity when you refuse to forgive

Finally decided, we can move on and finally be
You aren't the only one in prison, I need you to set me free
Our two hearts would then be deadlocked
Having finally removed all roadblocks

A great, emotional piece. I can relate to the "not wanting to let go" that you may have intentionally or unintentionally written there. But if it's not what you meant at all, that's what I get from it.

I used to think it was very humble to beat myself up emotionally all the time but now I know it isn't worth it. I don't hate myself anymore. I try to make friends with the enemy inside me more often. At times I fail but I just try even harder the next time. A very enthralling poem you have here.
