Intervention Sonnet

By dwells

You thought you had some vestige of control
Resisting what you cannot comprehend
Comply, and grow accustomed to your role
And we in turn will be your greatest friend

Protection from the enemies of all
We gave you fire and dwelt among the elves
Be wary when you answer duty’s call
Dear monkey men: we save you from yourselves

Sweet melody, the music of the strong
Our speech is like the language of the birds
This world was never yours to judge the wrong
Commandments given with the sacred words

“Dominion over all” – a bloody sham
The mother ship will tell you who I am
