School Stripes

By CausticChlorine

Hung over hard shoulders
is the limpest black-white
jersey jacket.

Bare as the day
it hit the shelf
it's still black.

No patches
no stains
no tears.

Snap buttons on
rustling polyester.

Lukewarm wash,
soft in-lining.

Formless facts
about formless things
unremembered,
nonetheless forgotten
in a day's time.

I bought it in senior year
formless fashion atop
formless classes
clashing with
line lacking lineart.

Reminds me of when
I thought I'd try to find
some patches
for the damn thing.

Still smells the way I did
still smells the way I may
still.

This reminds me of my dad's letterman jacket... how he gave it to my mom, who gave it to my sister, who gave it to me. This is heavy with memory.

Thank you, it's definitely been a reminiscent object that's just floated around in my closet for awhile.

It was a nice reminder for me... I left it in my parents' house (with my own jacket) Thanks for the memory lane trip
