...Repentance of the Dire

By SolApathy

Into the fade of dreams once made
I hold up an illusion, a daring façade
Don’t glance past the whispers of desire
You will only see a smoldering fire
Aching as it strains to survive
Refusing the truth, it already died
Thoughts of wisdom if you dare to perceive
The darkness that infects me
A desire once deep as the roots of a fig tree
Felled by the smallest cut you would ever see
I set upon the dire; a flame to quell my ire
Burning bright-
the infection could not withstand its might
Incinerated the tree of life
Leaving only the roots, deep
The memory, raw

A coldness came into the air when I finished this. :)

I feel better now. I knew something was missing. All is right in my world now. "Don’t glance past the whispers of desire You will only see a smoldering fire" Those lines trigger so much. This whole thing was something I needed to read. Your "notes" always add that extra something. I love how reading your work always feels like a dance.

    Yes, like a dance. Exactly.
