...Tales of the urn

By SolApathy

Fell in love with your eyes & unseen lies
Came back every time I said goodbye
 Was loving my own end
…A sin?
Breaking again and again
Like an earthenware vase
I drop off the shelf
Onto my face
Broken and bleeding
Put back together without seeing
Too many times
Pieces are always amiss & misplaced
Fragments that can never be replaced
In this human urn
Which you have so little concern
Cracks throughout my visage
Turning the vase to hide what you’ve done to me
…Inside I lie
it’ll be the last time; but again
 I give in
Letting you twist your words into being my sin
Cracks you dare not let anyone perceive appear where they can clearly
…See
Don’t want them to know what you’ve done to
…Me
Telling them it’s me breaking my bones
Bruising myself when I’m alone
I’m just a façade in your world of imaginary smiles
Feigning to our friends you are the perfect man
Never would you take your hand
(but you did)
you are the face of harmony in this farce of reality
I realized too little, too late
Broken and bleeding as you scream
I made you this way
A whisper on my lips erupts into violence unkind
Ending you with the bat you used on me
…All those times
(remembrance of that day)
I smile a little as they lead me away
Into the chamber
No more anger
Relief it’s come to an end
I inhale and let the afterlife
…Begin

  • A former member wrote: As a domestic violence survivor, this brought back some very dark memories that I try very hard to not remember. I can't tell you how many times I have bled at the hands of the one man who was supposed to love me and protect me. I really do applaud your bravery for writing about this very ugly topic. We should all stand up and say "No More!", and keep this discussion going. Queen Reb:).
