...Protests of puppets

By SolApathy

Is it the politics of pain?
Playing the blame game
Others the cause of your lower expectations on life?
Why you live rife in poverty and crime
Living off the governments dime?
Having me pay for your government cheese card
Driving an escalade with 24" rims?

While you protest
You’re oppressed?
What hypocrisy you sing
Chanting the same ole’ thing
Get a job instead of watching Jerry Springer and making mobs
Breaking other's possessions; your obsession
Real victims, meanwhile lying in depression
Trying to break free of this vicious cycle they feel stuck in
But not you...

Criminality in the riots you peruse
Diluting their cause

Are you confused by what you are fighting for?
Do you even know why anymore?
Or you just a puppet of the machine
Chanting in extremes for beliefs you don’t even hold
Burning cars because you are bold?
Breaking shops and fighting with cops
Blaming everyone but the ones causing the mayhem and madness
I am filled with such sadness
I’m forced to support those who use violence
Extorting
&
abusing
the poor souls
hanging by their last

Author's Note:

Welfare is assistance is someting I suppose and some definitely need & deserve in order to help them live, real victims are out there, but those causing violence to be "heard" are drowning out the voices of the real people in need :(

It seems like for every one person who truly needs government assistance, there are five people who just want a free ride. I'll admit, sometimes it did make me, at one point in time, wonder about those who paid for $500 in groceries using food stamps, and then you see them in the parking lot of the store loading their purchases into the back of a luxury car. Yes, we should look out for each other, but I think that there should be more stringent requirements for welfare, and that deeper looks need to be taken in order to assess true need. Of course, resources are finite, and thus ensuring that the cycle continues. Good write, dearest. Queen Reb;).

I have no quarrel with anyone that uses welfare in a responsible manner. it's the ones driving Escalades and paying $1 gov't subsidized rent that get under my skin...The same ones using gov't cheese cards for $500 in steaks and pop...And then go out and protest about inequality. It's hypocrisy at it's best and unfortunately there is no shortage of it.

I understand the point of this. Perhaps in an age where the working "middle class" live hand to mouth struggling just to survive on a paycheck so heavily taxed to pay the way for other people to buy lobster and sell their tanif benefits for drug money while the middle class themselves dot qualify for any sort of tax break or assistance when their children are going hungry...we should start a new outline of what is and is not acceptable. People will always tell you not to complain, people need that assistance. But it's your tax dollars. I for one do think it should take more work, effort, legitimate need, in order to qualify. So...just wanted to say, I get it.
