Dreams & Darkness...

By SolApathy

Summer's dream
Slowly escapes to the unseen
Waking to the sun rays upon my battered soul
Feeling the gentle warmth of the breeze
Upon my sins I amass my futility
Prayers unanswered as I desperately try to keep you within
As the dream of the night burns away in the light
I cannot fight
Would do anything to hold onto this diminishing dream
I feel the light invade and the anger takes hold
Can you understand the darkness I must control?
Must prevent this life from breaking my hold on reality
When I awake, I shake
Emptiness escapes and enters my soul
I smile intensely, though inside this mind
Nothing kind
Must...
Find a path to escape this reality outside the dream
Memories are my torture
Forfeiture
Of my freedom
Into the fierce clarity; I am the disparity
Of what is real, and what every day
…I feel

I like what Stephen King said about reality: [it] "can taking a flying [you know what] at a rolling doughnut." Great poem! It flows nicely and is ethereal.

The closing was stupendous SA and you are not alone; for we are legion. Cheers! - Dan
