Curtain Call

By Lab Rat

There was a time I could draw out a line
Like encores that I've kept on the side
And Its always like that
This little payback
Tit for tat

And I've spent lifetimes dousing
Dosing
Doing what I need to
Said and done
And moving on
Back to the wall is where I shine

I've closed the books
Opened another door
Done my time
And scrawled my name on a wall
    Or two
Held firm key in palm
This is my curtain call

Cracking the seal and passing through the portal
My door to winter's eve
Where my menagerie
Shows everything I was wanted to be
What was expected
What was destined
How my face looked through other's eyes
Before they passed by
    judgment
closed to the snide
the side where I was left

And I fell short, each and every time

To each and everyone of them
    Except me

"How my face looked through other's eyes/ Before they passed by/ judgment" I don't know why out of this whole (fantastically written) thing, those were the lines I read at least 5 times. Something about them seemed to echo my day... I just can't with you.

Heart wrenching. Sad with a hint of fuck everyone else. I believe in me where you didn't. Where you don't. Terrific :-)
