Bullets and Yesterdays

By Lab Rat

The slow serenade of traffic
sung me off to nostalgia
where I listed in malcontent

Its the wrong place for me to be sitting
Drinking
Thinking of you
The moments passing with headlight glare
The neon of another club
The stale smoke clinging to my clothes

The moments, they're loaded
Like the gun aimed to temple
Bullets of regret

And I've left myself out
With the refuse
The rubbish and the trash
That was left cheated out of another shining moment
Glory in my mind, stolen
By a perfect criminal

Tossed the gun in the river, a second later
Hidden evidence, to the crime
Without passion

The chorus in my mind, has a single voice
Singing a thousand songs
Anthems to this nostalgia
to my memory

Even if its in decline

And if its alright with you, Darling

I'd like to linger here, for another moment
Or maybe two

Remember what never came
What never was
If its alright with you
I'd like to daydream

While I'm left out with the trash
The curb my home
Its the only place I have
To sit and think of you

Before I pull the trigger another time

Too real LR, and this is an extra bummer around the holiday season if topical. The expansion of the trash metaphor was a real slap of sobriety. Cheers and be well - Dan
