how much?

By Rag-a-muffin

A history of bad decisions
Placing bets in the mouth of a wolf
Putting trust in the usual suspects
A romance with the unknown
Drink like a fish and ask no questions
Everyone's entitled to their secrets
But the tolerance catches up to you
And takes the skin off your knuckles
I've seen you in so many places
In the ash trays of forgotten lovers
The shine of a friends eye
Right before they pull the plug
And hang me in the front yard to die
There's powders salts and potions
All mixed for the perfect fit
But what they don't tell you is the cost
Of finding the promised fix
You'll sell your mothers fingers
Dance on the bones of your youth
Frisking evil on the street because
This type of flirt isn't suited for a booth
Snorted, booted, smoked in a pipe
A rig, a cig, a straw, or a big ol cup
I've seen you putting bags in my pocket
And I've seen you in the money I spend
I know your name and your game
I know you in everyone I see
I know you because I've felt you
Your addiction, your gluttony
