my co-dependent

By molock

what i have to say
... is gonna absurd.
when you treat
me like shit,
...i like it cause it
hurts.
i keep comin' back
for more,
it makes me feel
lower than dirt.
i love it when you won't
give me what i want,
....but what i deserve.

you help me with my
disease,
like a dark cloud,
....always hanging over
me.
stealing the sunlight,
aiding comfort
....to these empty feelings.
it's alright,
it's all the same to me.
I'm never alone,
....'cause misery loves
company.

you're so supportive,
...making everything
seem so irrelevant.
with open arms,
you enable me.
...acting as my
co-dependent...

your intentions,
are methodic and
relentless.
your interaction,
....always leaves me
defenseless.
at the mercy of your
benevolence,
i learn to live with this
discontentment....

As ``Misery loves Company``, misery also loves poetry ... Wow, Mo, this left me rather speechless but in a good way;)

I also am with a man who suffers from depression and it is one of the hardest illness I've had to deal with. I really love the formatting of your work too. You did a great job. Thank you for sharing.

The title and the poem itself are absolutely clever and brilliant. The war between acceptance and tolerance continues... Well done. - 10:43

thanks man, this is my way of describing depression. although I don't suffer from depression as a disease. i'll have an occasional down and out day. but my girlfriend (soulmate 19 yrs ) does suffer from manic depression. this is written from her point of view perhaps. cheers my friend .....mo
