Clearance Book

By 10 Forty Three

I’m the book you see on clearance shelves.
Fully priced upon new arrival,
Then quickly 75% off regular price after a few weeks.

Picked up and bought only a few times
as there was nothing else out at the time.
Only read half way, then sold back.

I’m an open book but you choose to read others instead.
I’ll never be read until the end,
But I’ll remain in your possession.

The day you decide to sell me back
I guess I’ll go back to being tossed into the clearance shelf,
Still open, but only from having other books shoved through my pages.

It's not your fault everything's gone to ebooks! If you don't have Facebook Instagram Twitter twitch and all that s*** people don't have time for the old world awesomeness. But live on brother you were printed for a reason, am I right? Without us there would have been no motivation to try and improve, wait that's counterproductive to the message I'm trying to send damn it. The point is oh, I don't know something something something... words? No all is lost, we blazed the path for the world, take pride in that, lol.

I agree, great metaphor! I like the imagery you used in this piece very much! Ciao, T/S Scholar

Pretty good metaphor. As a peruser of many bookstores, I know exactly the type of book you're talking about, and I know sometimes there are some diamonds in the rough on those shelves :^)
