Regret in Writing

By Noel Haiasi

Chances that have long expired
Sentiments now null and void
Closets with skeletons now crumbled to dust
Rusted keys leading to doors long gone.

Faces now immune to reassurances
Apologies raining down onto the floor
Hearts hidden away by a haze of hesitance
Irises of artwork now shut in my presence.

Shadows have more presence than the original
Solitude avoided continuously, suddenly found
Regrets now formed into writing
Escaping from everything now elusive.
