taking asylum inside

By cadymae

Why's my throat hurt?
You were screaming...

Don't leave me alone with me again.

In the slipstream between skin and soul
you can hide all kinds of impulses from you

Yourself and your old you and your new you
and that thing you never fed
so it would stay small
and stay held by just one leash

all of you peering fearfully about
the room, the crowd, the ghosts

the nurses crepe soles creep squeak

the finally quiet family peeps speechless

the extraction team retracts itself against the wall of authority

and you

and you

and you

will languish against the leash of their timetable of release

and you fill the air with your sound again.

All of you howl as one

can't hear them over yourselves for once

There is strength in unity.

The battle of duality and all the spaces in between. Another brilliant piece from your pen.

Interesting title, when people read/hear the word asylum, they tend to think --madhouse, crazy and psychotic living. But your piece has a double meaning, the struggle of self-proclaimed madness vs. trying to locate that internal safe haven to contain such flaws. I find the brain to be the most fastening organ known to man. And I personally, love the mystery and vast nature of it all. Magnificent read! Scholar

Fantastic piece! I really like your style, and this poem, sculpted from small firings of observation, was a delightful read. Ciao, T/S Scholar
