Fade

By ColorMeToxic

My heart slammed
against my rib-cage
when I heard you mumble to yourself
something about saying goodbye,
why?
I kind of miss the days
when I had you
wrapped around my little finger linger,
like the stale scent of
cigarettes and marijuana.
Now, you see me
differently.
I cry when I think about that.
Mistakes were made.
Fade,
and become less
than I thought I was before
which wasn't very much,
anymore.

I like the internal rhyme pattern and enjambment in this one. The imagery is strong at jarring as it kicks off and functions to me like a finger snap so that you have me paying attention to your observations that follow. Great job! Ciao, T/S Scholar
