Anthem to Decline

By Lab Rat

Upon who's brow does today's crown reside?
To the weight of a soul's mass
The derelict, the deficit, the despised
The fundament of the classless
         The rotund, grotesque sound
Of youth screaming in silence

Wear badges appointed harsh to chest
Feel the blood seep, flow
Watch the ruining of flesh
    batons set to blow
Nightstick decadence
    Reduce the criminals to jest
Talks of control and regulate
Leave decisions to the rest
   Those serving, those protecting
Sleep sweet beneath the shield
Just don't go disrespecting

Talk guns and bombs and terror
    Speak in television analyzing
Prime time for the sake of error
Listen, so quietly to the sounds of the youth
    Staring blindly in wonder
To the dying of the truth

I swear, your flow gets me every time. You know how to keep it so streamlined. There is nothing about this I can dislike (and I've tried). You're final line kill every time.

Very intelligent piece on today's social malevolence. Really liked this.
