Fair thee well

By Lab Rat

Your breath used to be something to me
The pulse beneath your delicate neck
Spoke between sighs and pretense
Souls destined to wreck

Your voice,
Whispered resplendent words
Syllables about flowers, a cloudless void
Of brilliant blue hues that you'd paint in your poetry

Just ghosts, drifting bodiless hosts
I never woke sleepless, restless and drenched in sweat
that didn't belong to me
I released the dream, that you used to be
Stopped hearing the sounds you were never speaking
Your storm managed to blow itself out
Before it belonged lording over my land
Replaced my doubt with a heart stripping riot
A new rage, a new addiction, age old affliction
The bottom of my bottle dropped bombs
And I felt the swell, choked stuck in my throat
As I closed those eyes

I wish you well

I wish I didn't relate to these words. That last line punched me. I'm still so glad I get to read your words again.
